Project Description
Building upon a state-wide assessment of the Saltmarsh Topminnow conducted in 2015, conduct intensified mark recapture studies in areas with known populations to determine mortality and population viability analysis and develop a habitat suitability model to predict population size and critical conservation areas for this species.
Conservation Area
Central Coast Rivers and Streams Native Fish Conservation Area, Southeast Texas Rivers Native Fish Conservation AreaNFCA Objectives
- Conduct research to fill critical information gaps
- Organize networks of public and private landowners
- Protect and maintain intact, healthy habitats
Project Hierarchy: Moderate (i.e., needs to occur within the next 3-5 years)

This project would build upon previous work (https://www.uhcl.edu/environmental-institute/research/publications/documents/15-002saltmarshtopminnowreport.pdf) to provide critical mortality and population viability analysis, and identify hot spots and critical habitats for the Saltmarsh Topminnow.
