Conduct aerial surveys of priority riparian invasive plants

Project Description

Conduct aerial surveys of priority riparian invasive plants with potential to significantly degrade riparian habitats (e.g., Arundo donax). Develop recommendations for potential future riparian invasive plant management project areas. Identify and coordinate with potential project partner networks.

NFCA Objectives

Project Hierarchy: High (i.e., timely and urgent, needs to occur within the next 1-3 years)
Estimated Cost Range: <$50,000
Project Submitted By: Monica Mcgarrity, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department
Suggested Contact: Monica McGarrity (TPWD), Melissa Parker (TPWD)

By identifying new priority riparian invasive plant management focal areas and identifying potential project partners, the project will proactively prepare for potential expansion or geographic shifting of riparian invasive plant management efforts to improve aquatic and riparian habitat as other currently funded projects reach a point of diminishing returns in landowner participation and funds become available. Recommended timing of project (tier of importance) is suggested to be proactive in planning future efforts.
